Sonic branding

You know the sound before you see the logo.

A few seconds of sound can become part of how a brand is remembered.

We started by writing original music for podcasts and discovered something bigger: if we can translate the personality of a show into sound, we can do the same thing for a brand.

What can sound become?

01

Sonic logo

A few seconds of sound that belongs to the brand. Small enough to disappear. Distinctive enough to remember.

02

Brand theme

A larger musical idea that can expand, contract and adapt while remaining recognizably yours.

03

Podcast identity

Original intros, outros, transitions and scoring written for the actual show instead of pulled from a stock library.

04

Audio + motion

Logo animation, end cards, launches, video and social content where motion and sound reinforce the same brand.

Sound sticks.

Think about how often we use sound to remember something: a melody, a rhythm, a voice, a sequence we repeat to ourselves so we don’t forget it.

You may not consciously think about the tiny piece of audio attached to a familiar brand.

But your brain notices when it arrives.

Written to the brand.

We don’t start with “What kind of music do you like?”

We start with the brief. What should the brand feel like? What is distinctive about it? Who needs to recognize it? Where will the sound live?

Sometimes the idea comes from rhythm. Sometimes instrumentation. Sometimes a few notes hiding inside the name itself. Sometimes it begins with a sound you wouldn’t call music at all.

Then we build from there.

Your logo doesn’t have to be silent.

  • A colour.
  • A typeface.
  • A photographic language.
  • A way of moving.

It can have a sound too.

Hear what we mean.
